Your car’s windshield plays a crucial role in your driving experience, offering a clear view of the road ahead. However, over time, the inside of your windshield can accumulate dirt, grime, and smudges, diminishing visibility and potentially posing safety risks.

To ensure optimal clarity and safety, it's essential to know the right techniques for cleaning the inside of your car windshield effectively. In this guide, Spencer from Optic-Kleer Plano will walk you through the steps using simple tools and methods that will leave your windshield sparkling clean without any streaks or residue.

🪣 How to Properly Clean the Inside of Your Windshield

When it comes to cleaning the inside of your windshield, using paper towels can lead to lint, smudges, or even scratches. Instead, follow these steps using the right tools:

What You'll Need:

  • Microfiber cloth

  • Store bought glass cleaner or a DIY mix (water, a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid, and a few drops of vinegar)

  • Rubbing alcohol

👉 Four Steps to Clean Inside Car Windows:

  • 1. Begin by wiping down your windshield with a clean, dry microfiber cloth to remove any dirt or loose particles.

  • 2. Use another cloth lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol to eliminate grease and stubborn residue from the glass surface.

  • 3. Spray your glass cleaner onto a separate part of your microfiber cloth (not directly onto the windshield) and then gently wipe the glass in circular motions to ensure an even clean.

  • 4. Finish by thoroughly drying the glass with a fresh microfiber cloth. Any remaining cleaner left on the windshield can leave streaks or residue.

Should you Windex on your car’s windows?

Windex is generally safe for use on car windows, but caution is advised for vehicles with tinted windows. Factory tinted windows are less likely to be affected by Windex, which contains ammonia. However, third party tints can be sensitive to ammonia based cleaners and may get damaged. Additionally, improper cleaning techniques with Windex can result in streaks. For a more effective cleaning method, follow the steps above to achieve a spotless windshield inside and out.

A clean windshield not only enhances your car’s aesthetics but also contributes significantly to your safety on the road. By following the steps outlined in this guide and using the recommended tools, you can maintain a clear and pristine windshield inside your car. Remember, avoid using paper towels or harsh cleaners that can leave streaks or damage sensitive surfaces like tinted windows. With regular cleaning and proper maintenance, you'll enjoy a clear view of the road ahead, making every drive safer and more enjoyable.
